The Artillery Company held their half yearly competition on Saturday afternoon for the Battery Challenge Cup at the North Dunedin Eange. A competition for the. West Taieri Rifle CompanyV gold medal was fired off at the Company's range on Saturday. It was also a competition for the Ladies' } Challenge Shield, the team of five to be chosen out of the ten-highest scorers. The weather was very fine. The ranges were 200, 400, 500, and 600 yards; five shots at each range. The medal was won by Lieut. Blatch, with a fine score of seventy out of a possible eighty. There were fourteen competitors.
