Mr Macassey was for the plaintiff, and Mr Stewart for the defendants. The Court’s decision was reserved.—November 17.—The Court was today occupied With the case of Jenkins v. Jenkins, which is an appeal to set aside a protection order obtained by Mrs Jenkins, onthe ground that it was obtained by fraud. Mr Stewart appears for tho appellant, and Mr Macassey for the respondent. Railway Management. Christchduch, November 17. —The ‘Lyttelton Times’ of this morning 'says:—"We understand that a conference of officers of the Kailway Department (we use the word in its lately extended form) is now being held in Christchurch. Tho gentlemen, in tows at present are the "bon. Mr Biohardson, Messrs Coxruthers, Conyers, Passmore, Lawson, Warner, Colonel Gorton, and Mr J, E. Fitzgerald.' Matters connected with the Colonial Kailway management are engaging their daily attention. The Government have certainly lost no time in getting to work on the railway system of the future.” The skating rink will be opened to-morrow, when J, E. He attempted to break into her house i she ran out of the bach door, the Maori followed her, caught her, and knocked her down. A settler, who heard her screams, went to her assistance, cauvbt the Maori, and handed him over to the police. —A man named Crocker was charged with criminally assaulting two little girls, aged respec- « B * x alJ d four years. The evidence given was ofthemost disgusting character. He lured the children to a dreary spot at Port Abnriri, by giving ''cm sweetmeats, where he effected his purpose,' He was committed for trial, A Handsome Gift. Lawrence, Novetnber 17. —Mr J..P.
