SOUTH DUNEDIN AT THE CONVENTION.
To the Editor., ;i i your last night’s- issue there appears an extract from a letter Of a « South Dunedin- Councillor, ” purporting' correct a mistake in the. ‘News’ regarding my appointment as a delegate ,to the C¥, turn. Now,-the correction-is far too nice not to be sufficient. . I brought the maftgr before the Council at the request of the Mayor, he being confined to bed; but a majdnty of councillors present hield that "bey were not a political body, ahd their duties were only of a civic character; while also the invitation was not to them, or before them. They therefore resolved not to fend Sr delegate. I may also state that I attended the Convention with credentials from* the hand of the’ Mayor, delegated by hluT aa mvited. Further, 1 believe him to be quite satisfied with my representation of and his Constituents.— l am, £e.,
