November 7.—Taiaroa, s.s., 228 tons, Petersor.for Timara. Jane Anderson, schooner, 96 tons, Saunders, for Napier, via Oamaru. Tho ship White Eagle arrived from London to-day. The Union Comj out's steamer Taiaroa sailed last evening for Timaru. The ketch Lloyd's Herald, with a cargo of timber from Catlin's River for Kahanui, put in this morning. The ..Catlin Eiver traders Fanny, Alpha, Isabella, Catlin, and Jessie arrived with full cargoes of timber this morning, and continued their course to Duredin with a N.E. breeze. They left tho River on Suikli y morning, mid had northerly winds along the coast to a.v. ival. The schoouer Janet Ramsay, from Catlin's River for Lyttelton, passed the Heads this morning. The s.si Hinemoa arrived at Wellington at 4.80 o'clock ou the 3rd inet., after one of the quickest passages ever made from Port Chalmers direct—28i hours. This run gives the Hiuemo.-; an averogo rate of speed of over eleven knots an hour. On the round trip from Wellington to Lyttelton and Port Chalmers, «ni thence back diract to this poit, including all stoppages, she averaged a speed of tei and fpnrrtonths of a mile an hour.— 1 N.Z.
