THE LATE LORD LISGAR.
Our European telegrams to-day record the death of the above nobleman, who was better .known in the Colonies as Sir John Young. He was the eldest son of the late Sir Wm, Young, an East Indian director, was bom in 1807, and was called to the bar,' but never practised, entering Parliament in 1831 as one of the members for Cavan in the Conservative interest. In 1841 be became a Lord of the Treasury; was Chief Secretary for Ireland from 1852 to 1856, and Lord High Commissioner of the lonian Islands from the latter date down to 1859. From 1861 to 1867 he was Governor of New South Wales, and soon after his return was nominated to the Governor-Generalship of Canada. In 1870 he was raised to the peerage. He married the daughter of Mr Dalton and Lady Headfort, but leaves no issue.
