The City Guards fired in the second, stags for choice of a representative team to take partln the competition for the Ladies’ Challenge Shield at the North Dunedin range this morning. Therewere seventeen competitors, and the weather was fine The third match will bo fired at Wakari on Tuesday next. Subjoined ore the principal scores:’

In view of the forthcoming sham fight and review of the Otago volunteers at Waiholaon the 9fch pros., we notice the North Dunedin Bifles are requested to assemble at the Northern Becreation Grounds at six o'clock on the morning of Monday and Tuesday next for skirmishing drill, and that members of other companies are invited to fall in. We believe that between 600 and 700 volunteers are expected to meet at Waihola, and we hope to see there decidedly the best turn out of the volunteers that has yet taken place in Otago.
