SATURDAY HALF-HOLIDAY.
To the Editor.
Sir, —It was suggested in your columns the other day that the hand should perform in the Gardens "on Saturdays, and that permission should be given to children to tun on the grass. Would it not be far better for the band to play at the Ocean Beach every Saturday during the summer so soon as the railway is opened, and make the Ocean Beach a_ resort for those whose business is "over .at 1 p.m., both for walking and equestrian exercise, besideß getting an invigorating breeze : from the ocean ? And could no one agitate Saturday half-holiday question again, so as to get those who are liberated at one or two to mike their wives and families assist in getting those engaged in the i etail trade a holiday? The shops that keep open now are only kept open by a few who have plenty of time to purchase during the week and through selfishness neglect it. ; —l am, &c, Veritas. Dunedin, October 21.
