October 20. Two new clauses were added to the Counties Bill, on the motion of the Hon. i*r Pollen—one empowering Councils to pay for work executed by Boad Boards, the other empowering Councils to subsidise Road Boards for the purpose of public works.

In answer to questions, Ministers stated (1) the Government did not intend to issne free railway passeß to members till after the session, as they had not yet control of southern lines; (2) the time during which hares could be killed would be extended. A SESSION IN DUNEDIN.

Mr Thomson moved that the next session of the General Assembly should be held in Dunedin..
