MUNICIPAL MEETINGS.
The Green Island Council held its meeting last Cr. Gray’s motion to set aside a sum of moveyto procure a site for municipal chambers, was agreed to unanimously.—lt was decided to ask Mr Walter Bell to act as valuator in conjunction with Mr George Praiu, and to invite tenders for the office of Town Clerk.
The South Dunedin Council, at a special meeting last night, considered the resolution rc the loan Carrie iat the iate public meeting, and, af f er some discussion, decided tliat, under present circumstances, it would not bs advantageous to the municipality to go into the borrowing market, seeing that its credit had been so seriously compromised. The Town Clerk was instructed to levy the rates now due.
