RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Monday, October 9. (Before J. Bathgate, Esq., R.M.)
Albion Brewery Company v. W. Insley.— Claim L 34 15s, for ale supplied. Mr Brett appeared for plaintiffs; Mr Aldridge for defendant— The defendant admitted owing L3O 15s, and judgment was given for plaintiffs for that amount, with costs. Donaldson v. Mark.—Claim L2 7s lOd, for meat supplied. Judgment was given for plaintiff for the amount claimed, with costs. Kirkpatrick, Glendiniug, and Co. v. Alexander Austin.—Claim for goods supplied. Defendant admitted the claim, and judgment was given for the plaintiff, with costs. Kirkpatrick, Glendiuing, and Co. v. A. Thompson.—Claim L 3 12s 2d, for a dishonored promissory note. Judgment for plaintiff for the amount claimed, with costs. Luks v. James Marshall.—Claim L 9, for money lent and goods supplied. Same v. James Duff, L 4 4s sd, for goods supplied. In these cases judgment was given for plaintiff for the amounts claimed, with costs. Barnes v. Currie.—Claim LSO, compensation for an illegal distraining for rent. Mr Barton appeared for plaintiff; Mr Denniston for defendant—Mrs Catherine Bames, plaintiff, gave a quantity of evidence with great volubility to the effect that a bailiff instructed by Messrs Connell and Moodie, forced his way into her house and took away the furniture, —Mr Denuiston submitted that no agency was proved, and that plaintiff must therefore he nonsuited.—His Worship thought plaintiff’s case was a weak one, but that there was one to answer. It would be adjourned to Friday next to enable witnesses to be called.
F. Dick v. H. O. Stephens.—Claim 10s, for a registration fee. Judgment for plaintiff for the amount claimed and costa.
