A public meeting is called for Tuesday, to consider the question of the legality of the late Education rate. The ' Times'' leader takes strong exception to members of Parliament reading over and correcting their speeches before they appear in 'Hansard.' . Lyttelton, October 7, A lady named Mrs Jennings residing here met with a fearful death through the falling of a kerosene lamp in her house last night. She was dreadfully burned, and lingered in agony until 7 this morning, when she died.
