CITY POLICE COURT.
Tuesday, September 26. (Before K. Ramsay, Esq., and J. Griffen, Esq., J.P.'s.)
Drunkenness.—Julia Keman and Thomas Monahan were each fined ss, with the usual alternative. Alleged Perjury. William Wilfred Wilson, of Gisborne, solicitor, was charged, on the information of John Stamper, with having wilfully committed perjury. The information alleged that the accused, when giving evidence in the R.M. Court, at Gisborne, in the suit of Stamper v. Wilson, swere that " on or about November, 1874, the plaintiff sued me in the Resident Magistrate's Court at Dunedin, which account was settled by my agreeing to pay him\L6o, which settled all accounts between us, and I never owed the plaintiff any other money." On the part of the informa-at it was asserted that the settlement referred to was of all monies due prior to September 5, 1872. and did not affect, as the accused well knew, the sum of L4O sued for in June last. —Mr Denniston, instructed by Messrs Sievwright and Stout, applied for a remand till the 10th prox.. which was agreed to. A Neighbors' Quarrel. —Margaret Hull v. Mary M'Donald and M'Donald v. Hull were cross-charges of assault, the hearing of which caused a little amusement by reason of Mrs M'Donald's extreme volubility, which nearly prevented anybody but herself being heard, and the strong feeling shown by one witness. 'J he parties quarrelled over a clothes line, Mrs M'Donald ailegiug that Mrs Hull struck her first, while the other asserted the whole thing was decidedly "mixed," blows being changed on both sides.—The Bench evidently thought the parties were equaLy to blame, as they dismissed both complaints, and bound each over in one recognisance of LlO to keep the peace for six months.
