The following letter upon the political situation, addressed to the three members for Dunedin City in the House of Representatives, was being numerously signed this afternoon. It exhibits a wholesome public opinion, and is not issued a moment too soon:—

Dunedin, 16th September, 1876. T« James Macnndrew, Esq.; Robert Stout, Esq.; W. J. M. Larnach, Esq.; the members for Dunedin in the House of Representatives. Gentlemen,—We the nndersfgned, electors of the City of Dunedin, feol impelled at this juncture in public affairs to express to you our opinion of the political situation in Wellington. We are wearied and disappointed with the prolonged debates of this session on Piako Swamp, Separation, Abolition, Disqualification, &0., &c. We are of opinion that direct, and exhaustive discussions on finance and Counties should have been held loni? ago, for the benefit alike of representatives and electors.

We think it is high time that all members of the House combined to put a stop to personalities, wrnngliuita, sad factious obstruction, and addressed tbems.l vps s'rictly to the business of tfa« country. —We have, &c.

The signatures already iuvlude those of Mesßra E. B, Cargill, Robt. Wilson, J. Rattray, Win. Baldwin, H. Tewsley, J. T. Wright. P, C. Neill, J. S. Webb, J)'. Baxter, H. S. Fish, H. M'Lean, Win. Fr&ser, Wm. Scoullar, Ac, &c.
