The s.B. Ino sailed this afternoon for Fort Molf* sens. j The 8.8. Otago, for Melbourne, via Northern and West Coastports, sailed this afternoon. The heavy S.W. gale which has prevailed for the ast few days moderated at midnight, and shifted this morning to the N.E., which enabled a number of small crafts that have been windbound to take their departures. The first to get underway was the ketch Gatlin, for Gatlin’s River, and she was followed by the ketches Fanny and Huon Belle, also for Gatlin’s River; the schooner Mary Ellon and ketches Lloyd’s Herald and Defiance, for Eakanui; the ketch Anna, for Riverton; the schooner Dunedin, for the Bluff; and Maggie Paterson, for Napier, via Shag Point. Tiie brig Emma, with a cargo of sugar, was towed up this morning by the p.s. Iron Age, after a passage of forty-five days from the Mauritius, wh ch port sho left on the 23rd of July, with the usual S.E. trades, which continued until reaching lat. 31,43, long. 54.16, on the 80th; thence, until the sth of August had north and north-west winds; got the westerlies in lat. 88.28, long, 73.4. Passed St Paul's on the 9th, thence until passing the meridian of Cape Leuwin on the 29th had strong winds, principally from the S.W. to N.W. On the 9th the wind increased, with heavy sea, and the vessel was hove-to on the Ist instant for thirtysix hours. Next day it increased to a perfect hurricane, and the vessel was again hove to for twentyfour hours under lower nmn topsail. Made the Solonders at 2 a.m. on the sth, cleared the Straits and passed Dog Island at 10 p.m. same night; had strong S.W. wind along the coast, and arrived off the Heads at 3 p.m. yesterday.

SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Auckland, September 6.—The Taupo will be detained till to-morrow morning, owing to stress of weather. Arrived: Loch Fergus, from London, after a passage of ninety-eight days. Bluff, September 6.— Arrived, Chance, whaler, with fifty-five tuns of sperm oil, after anine months’ cruise. Also, the William Ackers and the Thomas and Henry, from Newcastle.
