The winner was bred in England and W&2 1 one race in Victoria as a two-year-old. Since then she has done nothing of importance till she ran third to Sunlight and Valentia in the Hawksbury Handicap a fortnight ago. Nemesis is engaged in the Melbourne Cup at 6st 41bs, and her weight for that race will now be raised to Gat 91bs. Rataplan is not in the Cup, but Irish Stew is in it with only 6st 81bs up—a stone less than he carried in the Metropolitan.
