RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT, PORT CHALMERS.
Tuesday, September 5. (Before T. A. Mansford, Esq., KM.) Drunkenness.—Charles Miller (on bail), who pleaded guilty, was fined 10s, with the usual alternative. Disorderly Conduct.—Robert Kelly and George Fitzsimmons, for fighting in George street last evening, were each fined 10s each, in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment, with hard labor. A Dog Case.—Harry and Mary Hayden were charged with permitting a dog to bite Mary Rowlands. The defendants pleaded not guilty. After hearing the evidence of the complainant, who stated that the dog had rushed out and bit her on the leg, his Worship adjourned the case till Friday next in order that a witness might be present and the complainant have her leg examined by a medical man or some respectable woman, who could give evidence as to the injuries she had received.
