THE PROPOSED FLOATING BATHS.
To the Editor. , Sir, — It has occurred to me that for ; the amount of money proposed to be spenf in the construction of baths (say Ll,500) the accommodation to be obtained would? be quite inadequate, as only -a, dive at most could be enjoyed, a'swim being out of-the question. Would it not be a reasonable project that the Corporation should reclaim a portion of the Bay at’ the end of a small jetty, by constructing a circular enclosure with concrete sides, with a trap by which the bath might at every tide be jpurihedj ThataCitylikeoursshouldbewithoutprpper bathing places is a disgraceto those with whom the power and responsibility have rested,:and all with whom I have conversed upon the matter seem to regret their inability to get a swim immensely, and would only be too glad to subscribe or give their names as regular supporters—-in fact would do anything that the matter might be pushed forward. Trusting I have not trespassed too much on your valuable space - £ am, &c., Side-Stroke. Dunedin, September 4.
