August 29.—Taiaroa, s.s., 82$ tons, Petersen, for Timaru. ’ The Union Company’s steamer Taranaki, from the Northern Pons, arrived alongside the railway pier at 930 this morning, and, after landing her mails and passengers, steamed up to Dunedin to discharge cargo. She left the Manukau at 11 80 a.m. on the 23rd inst., Taranaki the next day. Nelson at 11 on the morning of the 25th, Welling, ton at 4.30 p.m. on the 26th, and Lyttelton at 8 20 p.m. on the 28th, experiencing strong S.W. breeze with heavy sea, to Akaroa, at which port she arrived at 1 a.m. on the 29th. Left again at 830 a.m,, with a strong S.W. wind and high sea, which continued to arrival. We thank Mr Doughertv (purser) for report and Northern exchanges The schoou'.r Dunedin sailed down from jiunediu yesterday afternoon, and hauled alongside the barque Oriental to complete her loading for the Bluff, The Union Company's steamer Taiaroa steamed down the harbor yesterday afternoon after taking on board transhipments from the barque West York, embarked her passengers, and took her departure last, evening for Timaru. The ketches Fanny and Huon Belle, with timber from Catlin’s Biv. r, arrived yesterday. The schooner Hosannah Eose, with a cargo of timber from Half Moon Bay, Stewart’s island was towed up to Dunedin yesterday by the ps Iron Age. The schooner Com hauled alongside the barque West York this forenoon for transhipments for the coast. The barque Columbus having discharged her powder was removed this afternoon by the tug Geelong from the Quarantine Ground and moored off Carey’s Bay in readiness to discharge her cargo into lighters. The schooner Janet Ramsay having received a thorough overhaul was taken off Sutherland’s Slip this afternoon. r

rerPHNO tpleqeim. Wellington, August 30.—The Taupo, on her way to Wellington, at 8.50 p.m. yesterday, passed a vessel bottom up, 25 miles N.N.E. 4 B. from Godley Head. The Bingarocma sailed for the South at 8 p.m. Passengers: For the Coast —Rev. Mr Townsend, Rev. Mr Arderson, Messrs Jones, Bartlemou, Wright, and Byrgone.
