The result of the inquiry at Lyttelton into the loss of the barquo Ann was that the Court found the mate of the Bpyal Sovereign had acted unwisely in not callirg the captain when he saw the position of thei two ;vessels; and second, that he should have broken the vessel off her course sooner, and so have avoided the possibility of such an occurrence. They did not consider that it was a serious act of negligence, but merely ah error of judgment. The certificates of the captain and mate were then returned.
