THE HARMONIC SOCIETY.
The fifth concert of this society took place last evening in the Temperance Hall, and drew a numerous attendance. The programme, which consisted principally of part Bongs, glees, &c., was, as a whole, rendered in a highly creditable manner, and showed the interest which hoth members and conductor (Mr Mbrpish) have taken in the rehearsals. We would call the attention of the management of the society to the lateness of the hour at which the concert commenced, and should be glad at their next concert to see the performers take their £ laces punctually at the advertised hour. __.aat evening, owing to this lateness in commenoicg, it was nearly 11 o’clock before the last item of the programme was disposed of. Of the part songs “Early Spring” was given most satisfactorily, but the glee, “ Thy Voice, 0 Harmony,” was rather hurried by some of the voices. The second part commenced with the chorus for male voices “Lutzow’s Wild (’base,” which was given vigorously, “ The Previn ” and “Red Leaves, although s’mple, were the most successful of the evening, the parts being well sustained throughout; but the geo “When winds breathe soft,” was slightly marred in some of the passages by the weakness of the tenor voices. The Various solos, duets, &c., were effectively Tendered. Mr Fraser gave a very artistic delivery of “The Pilgrim-of ovo,” ami together with the ladies and gentlemen who
