Blenheim, August 12. The insurances on the late fire are : M‘Elwain’B premises : supposed value, L 700; insured in the Victoria for L2OO, and in the Standard for L2OO. The mdrtjgage is also insured in the National for L4OO. Carter’s "building was insured in the Liverpool and London for L3OQ ; Imperial, forL2oo ; stock uninsured. Bank of New Zealand building and furniture insured in the New Zealand office for LI, 100. National Bank building insured in the Norwich Union for L 200; National, for Ll5O ; furniture also insured in the National for Ll5O. These premises were all destroyed, hut some furniture was save* i from both banks, and some stock from Carter’s. Ewart’s otel was insured for about L 3,000 in four offices. The loss will be about L4OO or LSOO. The cause of the fire is unknown. An inquest will be held.

Christchubch, August 12.
