All the examiners' reports on the recent examination for University Scholarships here have been received by the Kegistrar of the University, and the result of the examination will be made known in a few days.
Auckland, August 10. In compliance with a requisition the Mayor has convened a meeting for to-mor-row to consider the political situation. The Chamber of Commerce has drawn up a rtport on the San Francisco mail service, attributing the want of success to the forks and coastal service.
A meeting of the Rodney electors has passed resolutions condemning the Counties Bill as unnecessary, road boards being adequate for all practical purposes, the General Government taking charge of main roads; also condemning the expenditure of L 15.000 to change the site of the terminus at Helensville as unnecessary, the improvement of wharf accommodation there being considered all that is necessary.
Invercargtxl, August 11. At a meeting held last night to consider the action of the Provincial Government in removing Messrs Mitobell and Dundas from the Waste Land Board there was a orowded attendance. Resolutions were almost unanimously passed that the action of the DeputySuperintendent in ißsuing warrants of removal was arbitrary, unjust, uncalled for, and an outrage alike upon Messrs Mitchell and Dundas and the public; that the removal of these gentlemen was a serious injury to the public interest as showing that the members of the Board—which is snpposed to bo a non-politieal body—can only hope to retain office by being subservient to the Provincial Executive of the day; and that the chairman be requested to report the circumstances to Major Atkinson -with a yiew of having an inquiry into the subject.

The petition in favor of Sunday trains and reflecting upon the action of the Sunday Observance Committee has induced a second petition to be forwarded, signed by a large number of persons, and supporting the committee's memorial and praying for the discontinuance of the Sunday trains.
