EDUCATION BOARD.

The monthly meeting: of the Education Board was held to-day; present—the Deputy-Superintendent (in the chair), Messrs Davie, Gillies, Green, and Hialop (secretary). The Skcbetabt reported several appointments made since last o dinary meeting, all of which were confirmed.

Claims for two-thirds for repairs amounting to L32.i were referred to the Executive.

Applications for extra teachers from several districts were deferred, and a number of applications re buildings were granted. Tho follow! g resolution by Hr Gillies was adjourned for a special meeting on Tuesday next: — “ That the Education Board apply to the Provincial Government, or, in the event of their declining, to the Colonial Goverrment. to take the necessary steps under the Public Resrvea Act, 1854, and Amsnding Act, 1862, to have the sites and playground of the Albany street School transferred from the Wharves and Quays Reserve to a Reserve for educational purposes, and also that the site and p ay-ground of-the Normal School be transferred -from tho Hospital Reserve to an educational reserve.
