CITY POLICE COURT.
Thursday, August 10. (Before T. Birch, Esq., and A. Molliaon, Esq., J.P.’s.)
Drunkenness.— Wm. Mullins, for this offence, was fined ss, or, in default of payment, twenty four hours’ imprisonment. Maintenance,— John Charles Davies, on remand, was charged with disobeying an order granted by the Christchurch Bench for the support of his wife and child. - Accused stated his inability to maintain them as he bad been unemployed for some time past.— The Bench said cases of men deserting their wives were of such usual occurrence that they must try and effect a remedy, and Sentenced accused to one month’s imprisonment. If he paid the amount (L 6 16s 6d) the imprisonment not to take place.
Breach of the Peace. —Wm. Wilson was charged with provoking a breach of the peace by fighting in a public street. The accused stated that-he received provocation, and as the other offender could not be found, the Bench fined him ss, or twenty-four hours. *
