VProm our Social Correspondent) Wellington, August 4. In the House of Representatives on Thursday night, Mr Cooper, Clerk of Writs, attended and endorsed the name of Karaitiaua on the writ for the Eastern Maori district.
The Californi&n Mail Service Committee were grantfd a month further to report. The Premier, iu reply to Mr Tole, said a Bill to amend the Public Health Act and to enable entry to be made on premises where business prejudicial to health was being conducted, would be introduced as soon as possible.
The Premier, in reply to Mr Richmond, also said it was not intended to introduce a Scab Act, although there might "be a short Bill to continue Provincial Acts.
Sir D. M'Lean, in reply to Mr Sheehan, said the Native Lands Biil would be brought down next week.
