EDUCATION AT RAVENSBOURNE.
To tht Editor. Sir,—l noticed in your paper of the 27th a letter written by Mr Bacon on the above subject, in which, although it may contain some truth, one very grave untruth is stated —namely, that the children of Ravenabourne are being brought up in ignorance. Mr Bacon is fully aware that some four months since a day school was opened within view of his house, and that some forty children attend daily, who are receiving instruction equal to that given in any Governrntnt ecliool in Dunodin, as can be verihed by their parents. If hie children are brought up in ignorance, he has only himself to blame—taey should be taught free. I may also inform you, sir, that an evening class 1 as been opened, for those *more advanced in years.—l am, &c, Ravensbouene. Ravenbeurne, August 3.
