A number of ratepnyeiM in this municipality assembled last evening at Miles'a bakery, and they were addressed seriatim by the three candidates 'or tbe counciilorship for ttie "Ward. Mr Naumann was thejflrst to explain his views. He was decidedly iu favor of co-operating with adjoining local bodies iu carrying out schemes for taking away the floodwater and for a general system of soweraje. Mr M'lntyre, who followed, was iu favor of oifering a premium for the best drainage scheme. Ho would personally inspect the roads and see that contractors earned out their work faithfully. Mr 'Watkius thought a good idea would be to amalga mate with Caversham so as to get rid oi their floodwater. He was in favor of forming the whole flat into one municipality. Each candidate received a vote of confidenc ■ from hj s supporters as a fit and proper person to represent North Ward in the South I-'unedin Municipal Council, The electors of South Ward *ere addressed by Mr J. Tiionison and Mr J. Pattersou.
