The steeplechase mare Auckland Kate was raffled for at Warner's Hotel, Christchurch, on Tuesday evening, for Ll5O. Mr D. O'Brien, her owner, had the good fortune to win her back. " David Garrick " and " Our Boys " were repeated at the Princess's Theatre last night, but this evening they will be withdrawn in favor of the new comedy "Saratoga," of which great anticipations have been formed.
The Port Chalmers residents will have another opportunity of witnessing the performances at the Princess's and Queen's Theatre, the General Manager of railways having decided to run a late train betweon Dunedin and the Port to-morrow night. To-morrow afternoon's sports will corsist of the usual hockey match at Mont cillo; a football match at the North Dunedin Recreation Ground between the English and Scotch members of the Union Club ; and a scratch match beween members of the Dunedin Club at the Southern Ground. Times' says that because the Press Agency reports of Parliamentary proceedings do not bear out the grossly Onesided accounts sent by their special correspondents* a number of Opposition journals are making most unfair attacks on the Agency. Not a few of these attacks take the form of grass libels, and it is the intention of the proprietors of the Agency to sue one or two of the offending papers for damages, in order to bring the matter to a point, and vindicate their own bond fides.
