The Evening Star THURSDAY, JULY 27, 1876.

To find space for ovir lengthy Parliamentary telegrams in this evening’s issue, we have been compelled to hold over our reports of the Resident Magistrate’s Court, Mr Bathgate’s leeture, and other matter. We have received from the Government Printer, Wellington, No. 9 of ‘Hansard/ and a quantity of Parliamentary papers. It had been announced by advertisement that a lecture would be given by Mr M. Thomson, A.M., M.t)., on “The Progress of Great Britain and her Colonies during the past 100 years,” in the Oddfellows’ Hall last evening. The attendance of tho public, however, turned out to be so small that the lecture was indefinitely postponed. “Our Boys” and “David Carr'ck” rttnacted a very largo audience to the Princess’s iast evening, and Byron’s comedy appeared to evoke as much laughter as ever. To-morrow “Saratoga,” which has been Inscribed by a well-known Victorian writer •vi a five-act farce, will be produced. We feel sure tbe management would be consulting tho comfort of thoir patrons if matting wire laid ou the passages leading down to tho scats in the dress cirle. Generally speaking the first half hour of tho performance is lost amid the clatter of the fed: of those who come late*
