AN EDUCATIONAL MATTER.
To the Editor. Sir,— Some two years ago I was induced to purchase land at Ravensbonrno from Mr Proudfoot. It was stated in tho conditions of sale that Mr Proudfoot had made arrangements with the Government that all children residing there would be brought free to school by rail until the Government built a school there. The Government fulfilled their agreement up to about a month ago, when, fop certain reasons, they announced that all children belonging to any sect would be conveyed to school on the same terms—namely by paying. .Now, our district is increasing daily, and there are upwards of a hundred children growing up in ignorance, to which I have several times drawn tho attention of MrHislop. If tiie •■overnmeut cannot fulfil their obligations, it would bo more manly of them* to let the field bo open to private enterprise.--I am, &c., Robert Bacon*. Raveusbournc, July 26,
