Intelligence has reached the Port that a iishing boat, which went to the Heads on Monday in charge of John Johnson, accompanied by two men known as John and Alfred, met with bad weathei outside, and in attempting to return was prevented from reaching the shore. The boat sprang a leak, yesterday, and with great difficulty they managed *o run ashore among the rocks, a little above Sand-fly- beach. In order to reach the main land it was necessary to climb the face of a cliff about 200 ft high. The- man called Alfred tried to do so, but when about half-way up a piece of the cliff which he was holding gave way, causing him to fall with great violence to the foot of the cliff. Johnson succeeded in getting up the cliff and procured assistance. On returning, Alfred was hauled up by means of a rope ; but so severe were his injuries that he died about four hours later. The police boat was despatched by Sergeant Morkane with instructions to bring the body to the port.
