COLONIAL BANK.
The half-yearly meeting of the Colonial Bank was hold in the City Council Chambers, Manse street, this afternoon. There were fully 100 shareholders present, and Mr J. Battrav presided. The Chaikman moved the adoption of the directors report, which was seconded by Mr 11 S Chapman - , who considered directors had ac'ed most piudently in deciding not to declare a dividend at so early a period of the Bank's existence °,° ob i ec ted to shareholders being packed like sardines iu a box," and hoped that before next meeting a convenient room in which they might meet would be obtained. At the present moment the passages were filled with shareholders, who could not hear what was being said. The feeling of many of the shareholders was that the expenses were too heavy—that there were too many servants, and that some of the officers woro over-salaried.—(Applause). The report was then adopted. A vote of thanks was passed to the officers of the bank for past services, a like compliment being pa<d to the chairman and director, after which The election for a director—for which Mr H. M Ned and Mr A. W. Morris were nominated-uice Mr John Eeid, of Elderslie, resigned, took place
