WASTE LAND BOARD.
The regular weekly meeting of the Waste Land Board was held yesterday. Present—Messrs A. C.’ Strode (in the chair), Butterworth, and Clark. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
Mr James Porteons applied that sections 66 and 67, block 1, Waikouaiti district, should be submitted to auction at 21s per acre, the available timber having been cut off the land. The application was declined. A resolution was passed some time since, asking the Government to survey the land for sole.
Mr William Moffatt, of Otakia, requested the Board to accept his surrender of deferred payment section 11, block 10, Wnipabee district. Approved. Mr William Lloyd applied to purchase or lease part of the Beach Reserve opposite sections 40, 41, and 42, block 8, Waikouaitt district, estimated to coutain about eight acres. The application was refused.
Mr Gpnnell explained that, in accordance with hia promise at the previous meeting of the Board, he communicated with his clients re the occupation of deferred payment sections not contiguous, and they sent a reply stating that they (Margaret Dickson and Alexander Rogers) were married on tie 2nd •Tunc last. He mentioned this to show that he had not been atte npting to steal a march on the Board. Messrs Howell, Loughman, and Co. applied for an agricultural lease pre-emptive right of 640 acres in run No. 340. Referred to the Warden at Queens* town for report. Banger Hnghan reported that Mr George Cockorill had not complied with the condition of his lease of section 7, block 1, Eaitangata district, and suggested that the same should be cancelled. The report was adopted. Elizabeth Montgomery Arthur applied to purchase section 11, block 57, Lawrence, in exchange for part if section 4 of the same block, as per agreement with the Government. Approved. Banger Hughnu reported on Mr Andrew Huloaue’s complaint of certain statements said to have been made by him, and recommended that if a lease is granted in lieu of a license at Waikawa, the Board would reserve the right of the miners to run two bead of cattle free. Messrs Connell and Moodie applied for the Board's decision on the subject. The Board resolved that the run be assessed and a pastoral lease granted on the usual conditions to A Haldane.
