Calder, for Melbourne. Passengers : For the Bluff—Messrs Lauglands, Flanaglinn, Guun, Calder, Watson, and one in the steerage. For Melbourne—Mr and Mrs Pritchard, Mr and Mrs Hudson and child. Mrs Bannatyue and sou. Messrs Chambers, Buckland, Marks,Fredman, and twelve in the steerage. The steamers Taiaroa, for Timaru, and Maori, for Lyttelton via Timaru, sailed last night. Messrs M"Meckan aud Blackwood's s.s. Albion, from Sydney, via West Coast and Northern ports, arrived alongside the railway pier, at 7.20 p.m. yesterday. She left Sydney at 4 p.m. ou the sth inst; experienced fine weather to arrival off Hokitika at 4.40 p.m. on the 10th; discharged cargo, called at Nelson, Wellington, and Lyttelton, and arrived as above. We thank MrChatfield (purser) for reports and exchanges. The Albion took her departure again this afternoon for Melbourne, via the Bluff. The ketch Catlin and schooner* Spec and Jane Hannah, witb full cargoes of timber, arrived this forenoon from Catlin 8 Eiver, and passed up to Dunedin. Capt. Campbell, of the schooner Spec, reports the arrival at the river- of the ketches Huou Belle and Fanny. The schooder Owake was lying outside, bar-bound, and the ketch Lloyd's Herald left the river with a full cargo of timber for Kakanui on Monday last. An evidence of the improvement effected in the upper harbor by the operations of the*-' Harbor Board is afforded by the fact that there is now ' sufficient water in the channel to enable the larger vessels of the Union Company to come to town at spring tides. It is intended to bring the Taupo up to-morrow afternoon, and she will no doubt prove a great attraction to the many who have not hitherto had an opportunity of inspecting her.
