ABOUT THE LOBBIES. [By Teleghaph.l (From mr Special Corresponds t.) Wellington, July 18. The San Francisco mail service committee had a meeting yesterday morning. Sir J. Vogel wants 1,500 ton boats to do the coastal work. Mr Macandrew says that unless it is continued to Port Chalmers he will vote against the service altogether. The Auckland members had a caucus this morning. Mr Whitaker virtually leads the Opposition vice Sir George Grey deposed, and in that character will to-day move on the Revenues Appropriation Bill the omission of certain clauses with a view to the insertion of others, having for their object the making of the land revenue Colonial property. The Government hope to check mate this move, which at present is kept secret.
(Per Press Agency.) A meeting of delegates of representatives from Dunedin, Canterbury, and Auckland met yesterday to discuss the course of action respecting the two Government Bills now before the House. No definite proposals were made, but a considerable modification in the Counties Bill will be recommended. The delegates met a veiy full meeting of members from both sides of the House this morning.
