New Plymouth, July 15. There was a successful running of Para Para ore from the new furnace last night. It will be charged with ironsaud composition to-day. The Hon. Mr Scotland's letter to the Colonial Secretary appears in the papers this morning. He does not apologise, hut makes an explanation. He says he aces not endorse all Grant’s statements. Hokitika, July 13. Luke Moore, schoolmaster at Callaghan’s, has been committed for trial for indecent assaults on three little girls—pupils. Stewart Hill, who was buried in a fall of earth on Friday, was released yesterday. He was not much injured. Christchurch, July 13. The Interprovincial Cricket Match Committee has passed a resolution accepting Mr Bennett’s proposal for a visit of the AllEngland Eleven.
