COACH ACCIDENT.
One of those accidents which no foresight could have prevented, occurred to Cobb and Co s Lawreiicc-Tokomairiro coach on Saturday morning last, when a short distance on its way to Tokomairiro. The coach had just reached the top of the first bend near th«e raflway cutting at Mr Taborn’s. and was going at a steady pace when one of the O fF wheels got into a frost-bound rut, and bv a sudden wrench instantly fell into ‘pieces throwing the occupants of the box se^tf ft ground, and.givmg those inside* a BeV cre shaking • The driver. reived assistance from some of the passengers, thus preventing any serious accident occurring by the horses getting away. Mr Stenhouse, rector of the Lawrence Grammar •School, and Mr Dalziel, of the Blue Spur School, were sitting on the box seat, and in the fall Mr Stenhouse twisted one of his feet, breaking one of the small bones immediately below the ankle. Mr Dalziel, we believe, escaped scot free, and the passengers inside escaped with a severe shaking.
