PROPOSED VISIT OF THE ALL ENGLAND ELEVEN.

The following letter, received by Mr John Eva, honorary secretary to the D.C.C., from Mr J. H. Bennett, agent for the All England Eleven, has been placed at our disposal for publication;

Cricket Club Hotel, Clarendon street. Emerald Hill, Melbourne, July 4,1876. To the Hen. Secretary Dunedin Cricket Club.

Dear Sir,—Seeing by “ a wire” from New Zealand that there is no likelihood of the cricketers of New Zealand accepting the terms offered by me fora visit of the All England Eleven to your southern dime, I would like to ascertain what facilities you wojfld offer for the Eleven visiting yon upon their own responsibility. It is the wish, of the team to make a tour through New Zealand, and it entirely rests with your cricketers whether.England's champions will meet the New Zealand “ knights of the willow " next season or not.

If the five towns—Dunedin, Christchurch, ‘Weilingtou. Auckland, and Nelson—contribute between them L3OO towards the expenses of the trip, and give the Eleven the respective grounds at those places free ©£ charge, the team will bu prepared to visit you.

I need not enlarge upon the great expense incurred in bringing out to the Colonies twelve of England’s champion players, a distance of over 10,000 miles; aud moreover you are well aware that- the tour through the island would consume over fifty days, that is including the passage to and from Molbsnrne or Sydney. However, you will oblige me greatly by letting me know at your earliest convenience your views of the matter. Trusting that we may come to terms,—l am, &c.,

J. H. Benkett, Agent for the All England Eleven.

We understand that Air Eva intends calling a meeting of cricketers for an early date to consider the proposal.
