The Council met this afternoon; present —the Mayor and all the Councillors, except Mr Reves.

Before the balloting out of a Councillor for each Ward, Crs. The result of the ballot was that the following were selected :—South Ward, Cr. J. T. Roberts : High Ward, Cr. F. Chapman ; Bell Ward, Cr. R. H. Leary (at his own request); Leith Ward, Cr. C. S. Reeves (in view of that gentleman's standing for the Mayoralty). The Under-Secretary wrote that the Government had agreed to give an equivalent in land for the sections desired to be exchanged by the Council; each appointing a valuator. Agreed to. The Princes street Reserve tenants wrote accepting the Council's offer of a lump sum of L 2.000 for their frontages. The Council then agreed to extend the time from August 1 to September 1.
