FLOODS ON THE FLAT.

To the Editor.

Sib, —Being interested in the progress of the Flat, I think it time the South Dunedii Council should tty and make some arrange ment with the Caversham Road Board t«. combine and iustitute a proper system 01 drainage. The interests' of .'the *two places are identical, and the present outlets are quite insufficient. The idea that seems most feasible to me to prevent a yearly occurrence of floods and to properly drain the Flat, is t< cut a canal about 10ft wide and about 6ft deep from Kew, near Cargill’s road, through to Anderson’s Bay, with a bridge and floodSates at Anderson’s Bay road. The smaller rains could empty themselves into tin canal. Although it' woul d t be'an expeusiv v undertaking, I think it would be the best, and if the best it will be the cheapest in the long run.—l am, &0., W. Clxbxe. Cargill road, June 27.
