THE RICHARDSON RIFLES.

To die Editor,

Sir,—Having noticed several letters in your paper about the RicVardson Rides ahd the behaviour of the gallant captain, I might say, as a member of the corps, that I thmk jrour correspondent “ Onlooker” has hit the right nail on the head, and in my humble opinion the greatest blunder ever made bv volunteers was that dt the Riehardsou Rifles in electing an utter stranger for their commanding officer; and it seems almost a unanimous feeling that the sooner he resigns the better. I am, &c., 8 nt T „ Recruit. Dunedin, June 7. To the Editor. Sib, lu your issue of last evening there appeared a letter signed; “Pair Play,” contradicting the local which appeared in yesterday s ‘Guardian.' If “Pair Play” i s a member of the company, and was present at the meeting called to decide whether Mr Sohwabe’s resignation should be occepted, he unist have known there were present forty-seven members, twenty-four of whom voted for and twenty-three against Mr 'chwabc’s re-election, and had it not been for Mr Schwabe’s own vote it would have 1 been a tie. With regard to the petition asking Mr bchwabe to resign being in course of signature, I beg to state that 1 not only have seen but Lave signed said requisition, which I bchdvo will be signed by three-fourths of the company. Aa for the requisition to the Guardian,’ I believe one of Mr moat intimate friends was frantically rushing fcabout town endeavoring to obtain signatures, but up to la st evening be bad .only one, to at being his Own.—l am, &- 0 ., Bnpedixb.J’im# 7. ~. ~ ; TErTa> ?
