Captain Atkinson, of the Dunedin Fire Brigade, has received the following telegram, and kindly placed it at our disposal ;

Cristchurch, May 25. The Fire Brigade here being unable to send a detachment to take part in the competitions at Ballarat, had a number of trial practises under the Ballarat conditions yesterdiy with most satisfactory result. The time made in each practice will be sent to Ballarat for comparison with the time made there.
