THE TRADESMEN’S RACES.

The weather has cleared up again, and promises to keep fine over to-morrow, so that a fair attendance of the public may be expected at the Forbnry to witness some interesting sport. There has been little change in the betting market since my last, the scratching of Right Bower for eil his engagemeats through breaking down being the only sensational incident. Mr Coombe’s horse hud been well backed ever since the weights came out. For the Maiden Plate I fancy nothing so mnch ns Mr Hastie’s filly, and think the result of the opening race of the day will be Miss Elswick 1 Sultan 2, Flying Beauty 3. A trotting race generally turns out as least expected, bat I shall stick to the old performers at the Forbury and not take the dark ones into account. As Lucy has not jet arrived in town, I shall give my vote for Magic 1 Daueie 2, Jessie 3. The field for the Birthday Handicap is reduced to five by the scratching of Bight Bower, and rumor says even fewer will come to the pest, an impression having got abroad that Glengarry is to laud this handicap (if he can) while Bob Boy appropriates the Tradesmen s. Tadmor is also supposed to be in reserve specially for the second race, so that if all that is said could bo believed the Birthday Handicap would be reduced to a match between King Philip and Glengarry. However, I expect to see four start, and shall place tho three first— King Philip 1, Glengarry 2, Bob Boy 3. For tho Selling Eace Miss Alfred would have had a good throw in, hut she has been taken up too late, and is not fit to give weight to even the ordinary lot she will have to meet. The horse I expect to see catch the judge's eye first for this event is Fox, with Bucephalus 2, Euclid 3. The Tradesmen s Handicap will have considerable light thrown on it by the running for the Birthday but I am inclined to think that Glengarry will miss the big race and have to be satisfied with winning this. _ Bob Boy has been got into fine condition by Derritt, and looks as fit ns anything in tho race, but I think the company is a little too good for him. Hapnazard I consider weighted out of it, and I shall expect the numbers to go up as follows Glengabey 1, Tadmor 2, Haphazard 3. Pegasus.
