Wednesday, May 17. (Before E. ff. Ward, Esq., and A. C. Begg, Esq., LP.’s.)

Drunkenness, Joseph Cameron was fined ss, in default twenty-four hours’ imprisonment; Jane Monson and Anne Sherry, who were drunk in Court yesterday and had to be forcibly removed, each 20s, or fortyeight hours’ imprisonment. Obscene Language. —George Ryan and Elizabeth Mayne were each fined 40s, in default seven days’ imprisonment.—Anno Sherry and Jane Monson, two old offenders, for whom Mr Lewis appeared, pleaded guilty. They were also fined 40s, in default seven days’ imprisonment. The Bench told them that if they again appeared they would not have the option of a fine ; it would be a matter of washing down at the Gaol. Bone Stealing. —Orante Perranti and Peter Moncrass, Italians, were charged by David Bethune, butcher, with stealing from the North-east Valley, this mdnung, a quantity of bones of the value of L2 10s, his property.—Prisoners, through Mr Pavletich, stated that they were told that they could take the bones.—lnspector Mallard said he believed the men had acted in ignorance.— Mr Pavletich said that the men were immigrants recently arrived here, and that he lent them his horse and cart to gather bones. This morning he was surprised to learn from one of his children that his horse and cart were “in chokey.”—The men were discharged with a caution.
