Shag, s.s., 31 tons, Wing, from Moeiaki and Shag Point. sailed. May 16.—Beautiful Star, s.s., 146 tons, Peterson, for Timaru, Taiaroa. s.s., 228 tons, Stewart, for Timaru. Jessie, ketch, 29 tons, Lydors, for Oamaru. May 17.—Hope, barge, 25 tons. Baker, for Waikouaiti. Hawea, 461 tons, Wheeler, for Northern Forts. Passengers: For Lyttelton Mesdames Darrell and servant, Collins, Power, Misses Connelll (2), Gordon, Ruth, Hessey, Messrs G. Dari ell, Levey, Chesney, Eskdall, W. S. Medcalf, Collins, Hill, Thompson, Drake, WaddeU, Cohen, Esther, Espie, Bryan, and Holt. For Wellington—Mrs Dresden and child, Miss Davis, Messrs Davis and two children and Denton. For Wanganui—Mr Thome. For Nelson—Mr C. Braid, Mrs Fyffe, and two children. For Greymouth—Messrs Fyffe and Simpson. For Manakau—Mr G. Thome, jun., and nine in the steerage. The steamers Beautiful Star {and Taiaroa sailed last evening for Timaru. The s.s. Express wiU leave this evening for her usual trip to the Bluff. The ketch Jessie, which put into Port from Catliu’s River On Monday evening, railed for Oamaru last night. The barge Hope came down from Dunedin yesterday afternoon, rook in cargo at the Port, and sailed this forenoon for Waikouaiti. The ketch Defiance hauled alongside the ship Caithloch yesterday and took on board 130 casks of cement for Oau.arn. The Union Company's fine steamer Hawea having been cleaned and her bottom re-coated was hauled out of the Graving Dock this morning and moored alongside the railway pier to take in cargo, and took her departure this afternoon for Northern ports. The Union Company’s chartered s.s. Wanganui returned at 5.45 this morning from Lyttelton via Timaru. After discharging sixteen bales of wool to the ship Rakaia she coaled a<.d steamed up to Dunedin to discharge. She left Lyttelton at 3.30 p.m. on the 15th, arrived at Akaroa at 8.40 p.m; left again at 11 p.m., and arrived at Timaru at 9.30 a.m. on the 16th, took on board 575 sacks of grain, and left at 5.80 p.m., arriving as above. The s.s. Matau came down from Dunedin this morning and steamed alongside the ship Caithloch for transhipments, and will sail for Oamaru to-mor-row morning. The brigantine Yarra, in ballast, for Eakanui, sailed down from Dunedin this morning and anchored below the shipping. The s.s. Shag, from Moeraki and Shag Point, arrived at 1 p.m. to-day and steamed past the Port to Dunedin. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Auckland, May 16.—The Taupo has been detained until 2 o’clock to-morrow, owing to the state of the bar. Wellington, May 16.—Arrived: St. Andrew’s Castle, from London, 100 days from Gravesend, after a fine weather passage. She sighted the Tullochgorum off the Snares, bound from the Mauritius to Lyttelton with sugar, and no passengers. Sailed: Wellington, for Lyttelton and the South. Passengers; Messrs Piece, M’Kellar, and Hawker.
