CONCERTS IN AID OF THE BENEVOLENT INSTITUTION.

To the Editor.

Sir, —-I notice that, notwithstanding a protest signed “Charity,” ui the ‘Daily Times ’of Saturday last, the Committee of tbe_ Benevolent Institution Concerts have decided to bring opposition against the entertainments already announced for the Queen’s Birthday. The Committee propose giving an entertainment on that day from 2 to 10 p.m. Now this is what I term very illiberal action, I would suggest that the Committee may meet the wishes of the other bodies by concluding the projected entertainment at 6 p.m. instead of at 10 p.m. on the Queen’s Birthday. If the Committee invite opposition their series of concerts will naturally be nothing like no successful as they otherwise would be.—lam, &c. An Oddfellow, Dunedin, May 15.
