CAVERSHAM ROAD BOARD.
The Caversbam Road Board met on Thursday evening in the school-room, when there were present—Mr E. Rutherford (in the chair), Messrs Bridgman, Carey, Wilson, and Jackson. The Chairman stated that Mr Win. D. Stewart had been retained to conduct the Board’s case against the contractor who had filled-in the ditch on the Hillside road.—The following tenders were accepted:— Wm. Meade, for contract in Sydney street, LI710s; M. Bowles, for Laing and Goodall streets, at 4s 6d per yard for rotten rock ; M’Beath and Burt, for the formation of a footpath in Catherine street, LlB 2s; William Cox, for blue metal, 6s 9d per yard. It was agreed to call for tenders for the formation of Alexandra street at the Benevolent Institution, aud to form a footpath through Caversham, it the Government gave permission, and assistance towards the works. A deputation was present from Calderville, asking that the streets there should be metalled, and Mr Jackson and the Inspector were appointed to visit the streets, and to spend as much money on them as the funds of tho Ward would afford; the Inspector was also authorised to scour out the ditch and raise the embankment opposite Darly. The Clerk was instructed to apply to the buperiutendent to proclaim the Forbury road from the Main South road to the Ocean Beach, aud St. Hilda road from Kensington to Hill-side road, main district loads.
