BURNT TO DEATH.
We have received the following information relative to the death of Ellen Karentai. who, as we reported yesterday, met her death by burning at the Maori Kaik on the 24th iJrWn 8 fr ? m the statement of Conp^- 1 rv? 1 1 tCheU, i wllo was despatched from Port Chalmers to make the necessary inIKt 8 ’ th 1 at J . the father, mother, children slept on the floor in front of the fire, ar.u that about 10 p.m. on the 23rd one u chddren woke and screamed out Ellen is in the fire. The parents immediately rendered every possible assistance, but the unfortunate child, who was most severely burnt, died at 10 a.m. on the following day. It is presumed that the child woke, and finding herself cold went to the fare to warm herself and fell in. D r 0 Donoghue, the coroner, has decided not to hold an inquest.
