The amount of revenue received at the Custom, house on goods cleared for consumption this day was L 1,790 2s 2d. *

Messrs M’Landress, Hepburn, and Co. to-day sold the stranded schooner James Paxton for L 52 10s, the hull realising L4210s and the cargo LlO. During (March 586 souls were brought into the Province. Of this number 160 men, 87 women, and 59 children came from the United Kingdom; 20 men, 10 women, and 2 children from N.S. Wales; 108 men, 44 women, and 20 children from Victora 44 were Chinese from Hong Kong; and 4 men, 8 women, and six children from the United States. The number of persona who left the Province during the same period was 392, of whom 7 men, 7 women, and 11 ohildien went to the old country: 49 men, 19 women, and 7 children, to New South Wales; 92 men, 32 women, and 17 children to Victoria, and 133 Chinese to Hong Kong. There was thus a balance in favor of immigration of 204 souls.

The ‘North Otago Times' reports that there seems to he considerable difference as to the prices offered and accepted for wheat. Some buyers find no difficulty in obtaining large supplies at 4s, and, in fact, have paid, and ate paying, that figure for first-class groin, while others, we hear, are giving 4s Id, and in some instances as high a figure as 4s 3d has been given. Mr Hbnbt Driver (on behalf of the N.Z.L. and MA. Company) reports for the week ending sth Aprils— Fat Cattle.—A very full supply of 200 head were yarded, mostly good to prime quality. Prices showed a considerable decline on last week’s rates. Best bullocks brought from LlOto Ll2los each; do cows, L 9 to Ll3 for prime heavy weights, or equal to 27s 6d per 1001b. At the yards and privately we have sold 60 head.

Fat Sheep,—There was also an over supply of 8,000 forwarded, of which 2,000 were sold to the trade at 9a 6d to 12s 6d for cross-breds, and 7a 6d to 9s 0d for merinos, or equal to 2}d to 2{d per lb for best mntton. At the yards we sold 700. Fat Cattles,—2o were penned, and brought fully late prices. Fat Lambs —2oowere penned,and beinglate in season, half had to be turned out unsold. We sold of 50 At 7s 6d to 9s Od each.

Store Cattle. —There is a good demand for wellgroom bullocks and oows at late quotations. Store Sheep.—During the week we hare sold 3,500 of various descriptions at the following prices i Cross-breds, 4 ana 6-tooth, at from 9s to 9s 6d; do, 2-tooth, 7s Od to 7s 9d; do lambs, 6s to 7s; merino wethers, ,8, 4, and 6-tooth, 5s 6d to 6s, do, foilmouthed, Sb to 9s fid j. merino ewes, 2,4, and 6-tooth, 6sto 6s 6d; do, full-mouthed, 2s 6d to Bs.
