The amount of revenue received at the Custom* bouse on goods cleared for consumption this day was 1.1,0816s 4d. At the Standard Property Investment Society’s annual meeting last night (MrT. Diet in the chair), the directors submitted a report, which after stating that the net profits on the year’s transactions had amonnted to L 2.749 went on to say that “ the sum of L 27.000 has been advanced on mortgage, and L 8.763 paid on realised shares. 1,727 new shares have been subscribed for during the year. There is now a sum of L 5.760 18s 5d to credit of contingent fund, which, in terms of the* rules, will be available for distribution between investing and borrowing members pro rata in March, 1877. Several of the shareholders, however, consider that it would be more equitable if the surplus funds were divided annually instead of every five years. To this course the directors offer no opposition; on the contrary, they approve of the suggestion, and will be willing to give effect to any decision which moy be arrived at hy this meetingbearing on the question. Afterconsidcrable discussion it was decided “ that thehalanee to the credit of the contingent fund, or so much thereof as the directors may see fit, he divided among the existing shareholders, and that in future the annual profits, or so much as the directors may see fit, be divided annually.” Messrs D, Campbell and A. B. Livingston were re-elected directors, and Mr George Blyth was re-appointed auditor.
